Dr. Martin Böhmer

Martin Böhmer has headed the SSI SCHÄFER Group’s global innovation and technology department since 2022. Working in interdisciplinary teams, the department has identified, evaluated, developed and tested innovative technologies for intralogistics. In addition to analysing market dynamics and the start-up landscape, he focuses in particular on digitalisation and artificial intelligence. In this role, he draws on his many years of experience at the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics IML, one of Europe’s largest institutions for holistic and practice-oriented logistics research. Other stages of his professional career include roles at an Australian logistics service provider and an IT consultancy firm. He completed his studies at Dortmund Technical University with a diploma in Computer Science and a diploma in Logistics. He subsequently completed his PhD at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Dortmund Technical University whilst working. Martin Böhmer lives in the Dortmund area.
