Prof. Dr. Martin Schwemmer

Martin Schwemmer is Professor of International Transportation Economics and Logistics at Heilbronn University, where he teaches primarily on innovations, trends, startups, and markets in logistics and supply chain management. He is also the director of the renowned LOGWERT Institute at Heilbronn University. Prior to that, he served as managing director of Bundesvereinigung Logistik e. V. until October 2023. He earned his Ph.D. from Fraunhofer IIS in 2021 with a dissertation on the success of logistics startups. As a senior consultant in the Logistics Market Intelligence division for over ten years, he authored and led the “Top 100 in Logistics” study series, which has become the standard reference work for describing and analyzing the logistics sector. Since 2025, he again is the lead author of this study. He is a member of the jury for the BVL’s Logistics Science Award, a member of the German logistics expert panel “Gipfel der Logistikweisen,” and a member of the jury for the “Logistics Hall of Fame.”
