Michael Tomuscheit is a partner and member of the executive board at AWB | Law | Consulting, a consulting group specializing in customs, foreign trade, and value-added tax law with offices in Münster, Hamburg, and Munich. At the Munich office, he is responsible for process and organizational consulting as well as the digitalization of customs and foreign trade matters. His consulting practice focuses on customs law, export controls, and rules of origin and preferential trade law. He places particular emphasis on the internal implementation of customs and export control regulations within the framework of process and organizational structures, as well as on project management for the implementation of common trade compliance IT solutions, such as MIC or SAP GTS. Drawing on his many years of experience, he possesses extensive industry knowledge in the automotive, technology, and healthcare sectors. Throughout his professional career, Michael Tomuscheit has gained insight into customs and foreign trade law from various perspectives: as a former customs administration official, in leadership roles as a manager and senior manager at two Big Four consulting firms, and through several years of leadership experience in the areas of customs and export control at the BMW Group and Intel Corporation. This has resulted in extensive leadership and management experience in steering interdisciplinary teams, overseeing global trade compliance organizations, and leading complex, cross-location transformation and IT implementation projects. Awb-international + 2 Michael Tomuscheit holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) and a Diplom-Finanzwirt (FH); he completed his studies at Saarland University. In addition to his consulting work, he is a lecturer at the AWA AUSSENWIRTSCHAFTS-AKADEMIE, a regular contributor to the trade journal AW-Prax (Reguvis Außenwirtschaft), and a speaker at industry events, including the European Customs Practitioners Conference. He speaks German and English.
